Aviva & Pieta House – #Sharethelight

I was asked to write a video for Pieta House, a charity for the prevention of suicide and self harm, on behalf of Aviva (the big insurance company). They pick a Charity of the Day annually, where they play an ad on the big screens in the stadium at a big match.

This year, that match was the final game in the RBS Six Nations, Ireland vs England, the biggest game of the year. No pressure.

We presented a lot of ideas that showed people suffering with, or overcoming, depression and suicide in various ways. We were also shocked by the number of people that Pieta House has dealt with in the past 10 years and just how many people die by suicide each year. In 2015, nearly 3 times more people died by suicide than died in road accidents.

Here’s the piece we went with, which was shown to a captive audience of 56,000 people and racked up almost 20,000 views in it’s first two days on social media.
